Subject: Could I be pregnant? So scared, please help
I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on day 5 of my menstrual cycle. He withdrew before ejaculating though. On days 8 and 9 I had spotting, which I have never had before. Then I started getting sore breasts days 17 to 24 (today). I sometimes get sore breasts a few days before my period but this is way too early and gone on longer than usual.
I know I shouldn't really worry until my period is late but I can't help it. I'm planning on taking a test if I haven't got my period by next weekend but I was hoping for advice before it gets to that. I'm in a long, stable relationship with two (quite small) incomes and a house but I am so not ready to be pregnant. Please help, it's taking up my life thinking about it and googling it constantly. By the way, why we didn't use contraception is irrelevant, please don't lecture me on that.

It's not irrelevant, it's irresponsible. If you aren't ready for a baby you should be using contraception, I'm sorry. End of story. Well, unless it was for religious reasons I suppose. If you were in any doubt you should at least have gone for the morning after pill.
What kind of advice do you want now?
Yes, you could be pregnant, even if he didn't ejaculate inside you. Your symptoms sound similar to those I had in early pregnancy actually, but obviously that doesn't mean you are pregnant. Do a test if your period is late, or get one of those early detection tests (not sure when you can do those from though) if you'd like to know sooner.
No one can really give you any advice now, it's wait and see.

There is no point in worrying yourself into a panic attack until you are sure, and "if only"s are pointless - either way, the deed is done. I suggest a pregnancy test: I once worried myself senseless because I was late, had a test done by a pharmacist which turned out negative - I was just tired. So better to find out as soon as possible. If test is positive, then sit down with your boyfriend and discuss options.
Whatever happens, there is no need to be scared - unwanted pregnancies can be terminated ( although the moral and psychological/emotional outcomes must be considered) and unplanned pregnancies can lead to wonderful children and great joy.
