Is this the end of the 'lad band'?

Is this the end of Oasis? The future of the Brit-pop stalwarts is in doubt after singer and guitarist Noel Gallagher posted a message on the band’s website to announce he could no longer continue to work with brother and bandmate Liam. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer,” wrote Noel. “Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."
The band were due to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris on Friday, but cancelled at the last minute. The brothers have always had a famously frosty relationship, with fights and fall-outs a regular feature in tabloid gossip columns. In a recent interview with NME magazine, Liam admitted he rarely spoke to his brother Noel, they no longer travelled together and only saw each other on stage. "He doesn't like me and I don't like him, that's it," Liam admitted.
The band are now said to be considering their options and whether to continue without Noel or go their separate ways. The news comes as their early track Live Forever was named the greatest song of all time in a radio poll. They also placed third and fourth in the poll, with Don’t Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall.
What do you think? Is this the end for ‘lad bands’ like Oasis?
