Does the world need men any more?
Have your say on artificial sperm here
Men everywhere may soon only be needed to help programme the Sky+ box, as British scientists announce that they have created human sperm from stem cells in one of the biggest breakthroughs in fertility treatment for decades.
The technique, where sperm cells were created from embryo stem cells, could be used to help give infertile couples children who are biologically their own - or even allow a woman to have a baby without a man involved.
The research, which was carried out at the Northeast England Stem Cell Institute at Newcastle and Durham Universities, is a world first. However, the news has reignited the debate over stem cell research, with some campaigners calling the breakthrough 'man at his maddest'.
What do you think? Does the world need men any more? Would you have a baby without having a man involved?
