Famous for: Winner of Pop Idol in 2002 and became part of Girls Aloud who went on to get 20 Top 10 consecutive singles and receive 5 Brit awards. In 2008 she became judge on the X Factor and in 2009 launched a solo career achieving two number one singles. In 2006 she married Ashley Cole but divorced him in September 2010 after his repeated cheating.

Body type: Petite and slim

Body history: Cheryl actually looks quite podgy in the Pop Idol clips in comparison to her toned body we’ve got used to seeing in Girls Aloud - she claims from doing up to eight hours of dancing some days. As her relationship to Ashley broke down after the first cheating allegations in 2009, the stress took its toll and her toned body became tiny and frail. Now, having gained a little weight and doing high energy dance routines for her recent single and video performances, she is admired by women all around the world for her slim (some would argue still skinny) frame. If you wanted to compare yourself to her she is 5ft 3 and wears a UK dress size four.

What does she do fitness/diet wise: She claims to have a blow out once a week on a Sunday when she is hungover but denies using a nutritionist and dieting. However, she is largely a vegetarian and loves Japanese food so often eats naturally low calorie yet high tasting food such as Miso soup, edamame beans and sashimi (raw fish). She barely eats bread and pasta and chooses lean proteins and salads and she only drinks alcohol once a week if that. In Girls Aloud she had a personal trainer but now she keeps fit being busy, doing fast paced dance routines and abdominal work.

How you can achieve the same look?
Cheryl Cole has great genetics for a great body, because she actually has a really small frame something that you can’t really alter no matter how hard you train. However, you can see that over the years her body has slowly transformed from the intense dance training and focus on nutrition. A lower body fat with good but not overdone muscle definition is what you need to aim for and a combination of dance classes, all over body workouts such as outdoor workouts and cardio sessions like running would make a difference. Getting a six pack is not only about toned muscles but also ensuring there is no fat lying over it! Food wise, choose raw, low calorie, nutrient packed foods such as salads and combine with omega packed protein such as salmon, cod and prawns, keep portions small, but make sure they are made of good quality fresh ingredients. Eliminate anything white or stodgy from your diet, so no cakes, biscuits, breads etc!

A weekly program could look like this:
• Monday – One hour dance class
• Tuesday – 30 min run and 20 min ab routine
• Wednesday – One hour group outdoor workout/circuits class
• Thursday – One hour dance class
• Friday – 30 min run and 20 min ab routine
• Saturday – One hour dance class
• Sunday – 30 min ab/core workout

A daily eating program could look like this:
• On waking: hot water and lemon
• Pre breakfast: Vegetable based juice
• Breakfast: Poached egg on spinach leaves with a piece of rye bread
• Snack: Handful of blueberries
• Lunch: Miso soup, sashimi and Japanese salad
• Dinner: Grilled chilli prawns with crunchy vegetables
