Simon Cowell: Cheryl is a brat!
X Factor boss Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell has slammed Cheryl Cole for leaving her X Factor contestants and flying off to America last week, the People newspaper reports. The Girls Aloud star reportedly flew into Los Angeles to broker her own £6m record deal. Cowell described Cheryls behaviour as bratish and believes it left Katie Waissel, Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Lloyd unprepared for the weekends live show.
"It was completely brattish to fly off to America like she did," Cowell explained. "Cheryl is a brat. She comes in sometimes and she is a brat. Whether you like it or not, when you are on this show you can't just turn up on a Saturday and Sunday and be on television, you've actually got a job to do. If you're not around the contestants will make it known exactly how unhappy they are."
Meanwhile, X Factor host Dermot OLeary is believed to have blown his chances of fronting the US version of the show by commenting on last weekends elimination controversy, Daily Star Sunday sources claim. Dermot discussed the furore around Treyc Cohens departure from the show with the Sun and hinted that he was unhappy that the shows producers refused to let Cheryl Cole, Katie Waissel and Treyc Cohens mentor, vote last and thus enforce a deadlock.
It would have been a lot easier for me for Cheryl to be last. There's no precedent to it so it's tricky," Dermot explained, though later insisted his words were taken out of context.
However, insiders now claim Simon Cowell is rethinking his backing of OLearys bid to host the upcoming US version of the show. "Simon stands by the producers of the show and how they handled Treyc Cohen's eviction. No rules were broken, a source insists. "But he wasn't happy with how Dermot's words were twisted and he wants his star presenter to be more careful in future or he may pull the plug on his US job. He sang Dermot's praises to bosses in America and the last thing he wants is to look like he's picked the wrong man."
Katie Waissel found herself in the bottom two for the fourth time last night, this time against Aiden Grimshaw. After scoring two votes each from the judges the decision went to deadlock where it was revealed that Katie had received a higher percentage of the publics vote ensuring her safety for another week.
