Rihanna’s not afraid to make a statement now is she? In the opening sequence to her new music video Man Down, the Barbadian singer shoots a man in the middle of a busy station.
The video reveals Rihanna’s reasoning behind the shooting, as we see her hanging out in Kingston with friends before heading to a club where she meets a guy. Before things get to steamy Rihanna decides to head home, only to find the man following her and then he appears to rape her.
Rihanna’s music videos are known for causing controversy - her promo for S&M, which shows Rihanna dressed in PVC underwear and kissing a tied up, female security guard, was banned in eleven countries after it was released and flagged by YouTube as inappropriate for users under the age of 18.
The star, who was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and recently admitted she changed because of the ordeal, told her Twitter followers, “It’s #Gritty #Gully #Emotinal #JAMRock Very strong underlying message 4 girls like me! #listentoyamama.”
