Approved jokes only, Ricky
You know that if you're hiring Ricky Gervais to host an awards show, you should expect some rather inappropriate jokes. Especially if the last two Golden Globes were anything to go by.
But, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association aren't taking any chances this year, and they have asked Gervais to submit a script for the night and rehearse his jokes in front of the HFPA, producers and NBC executives on Saturday who will request changes if they see fit.
At last year's ceremony, Gervais caused controversy when he made jokes at the expense of some of the film industry's most important faces including poking fun at Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's film The Tourist while they watched on from the audience.
A HFPA spokesperson has told The Hollywood Reporter, "You can't muzzle him and I don't think anybody has any desire to muzzle him."
However, thanks to Ricky's performance last year, and his unpredictability, NBC are going to air the event with a five-second tape delay in order to have some form of damage control and bleep out any expletives.
Of course, Ricky's attitude to the whole thing can't be helping. He's said that Sunday will 'definitely be his final time' and wrote on his own blog, "Now here's the thing. The outrage I cause was of course, as usual, totally out of proportion to the things I said.
"I don't think anyone had any right to be offended but they were. This year I'm going to make sure their offence is completely justified. The best thing about it is writing gags. I love writing one liners. Particularly when they can be used in any context. It gives them a special weight on the night if you know what I mean."
And so, all we can do on Sunday night is sit back and watch the fireworks unfold. We can't wait.

Of course, Johnny Depp wasn't offended. He even joked about it.
