And they’re in. Oscar nominations 2012 have been announced. Martin Scorsese’s Hugo has received the most nominations, 11, with The Artist following a close second with 10.

Michael Fassbender and Leonardo DiCaprio have both been overlooked in the Best Actor category in favour of A Better Life’s Demian Bichir and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’s Gary Oldman (although we’re not arguing with that decision).

Rooney Mara made a surprise, but worthy, appearance in the Best Actress category against the likes of heavy weights Michelle Williams and Meryl Streep.

And Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’s Max Von Sydow was given a nod for Best Supporting Actor and we absolutely agree, he gives a brilliant performance in the movie. Watch this space for a review.
