Michelle talks sexiness with mixed messages

I love Michelle Williams, but she's sending some confused messages about being sexy in a new interview and photoshoot.
Posing in her underwear for the shots in GQ, she talks about the negative connotations of sexiness in the interview, saying that she tries to stay aware of it:
"I wouldn’t say that would be one of my first qualities as a human being... being sexy.
"And I think because my character on Dawson’s Creek was sexy… sexualised… sexual I saw all the negative attention and connotations that can come along with that.
"And that those things can keep people from seeing you clearly.
"When you play sexy you're kind of playing just for men. That is something you have to police and turn it on its head."
Perhaps the fact she's got a Marilyn Monroe wig on is her way of policing it and turning it on its head? Any ideas?
