Matt Cardle

Matt Cardle has been crowned the winner of this year’s X Factor. 27-year-old Matt beat Rebecca Ferguson into second place after winning yesterday’s public vote. Head judge Simon Cowell described Cardle as “one heck of a nice guy” and confirmed his cover of Biffy Clyro’s Many Of Horror, which will be renamed When We Collide, would be now released as a single, making Cardle the bookies favourite for Christmas number one.

Earlier in yesterday’s final, teen boyband One Direction had been voted off the show.

Cher Lloyd was eliminated during Saturday’s live show following a round of celebrity duets that featured One Direction joining Robbie Williams for a version of his song She’s The One, Ferguson duetting with Christina Aguilera on her hit Beautiful, Matt Cardle and Rihanna singing Unfaithful and Lloyd joining will.iam for a medley of Black Eyed Peas hits.
