Sex and the City - now with men?

Here's something for SJP and the gang to dwell on as they polish their Razzie statuettes… Sex and the City with four male leads! Well, not quite - it's actually just been reported that HBO are developing a series based around a quartet of guys in Manhattan, so naturally SatC comparisons have already been drawn.

According to Variety, the creator of Entourage, Doug Ellin, is working on the currently untitled series with Ed Burns set to take the lead. Talking about the show, Ellin said that it will seek to chronicle the real life struggles of men in this day and age "dealing with marriage and friendships", adding:

"It's something I've lived with my friends. People were thinking that 40 is the new 20 and their life is all set -- and all of a sudden they woke up one day and had no money [after the recession]."

Now, both Sex and the City and Entourage are great, so a show that's a cross between the two sounds very interesting… I bet Ed Burns' character's shoes won't be as fabulous as Bradshaw's, although that probably won't be much of a consolation for Sarah Jessica Parker and the girls… Not only will they have to put up with men taking over MANhattan - and maybe stealing their MANolos, but to add insult to injury, there's a prequel in the pipeline which will see a younger actress play Carrie. On the subject, SJP recently told the Los Angeles Times:

"I don't think we can pretend to go back. It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Bradshaw.'"

Who would you rather see taking Manhattan - the original gang, a bunch of 40-something blokes or a gang of teens?
