Could Lindsay Lohan be heading straight for the slammer once again next month? The increasingly troubled starlet has been told by a judge that she will face a prison sentence, even if she accepts a plea deal in court for the alleged theft of a necklace.
The 24-year-old Mean Girls actress has so far pleaded not guilty to the grand theft charges and continues to maintain that the £1,500 necklace was loaned to her and that her assistant forgot to return it in time.
The star's lawyer had hoped to secure a deal to keep her out of prison, but Los Angeles judge Keith Schwartz told LiLo in court yesterday, "I don't care if you're Lindsay Lohan.
"This case does involve jail time period. If you plead in front of me and this case is resolved in front of me you are going to jail. Period."
Lohan, currently on a £20,000 bail, went to prison twice last year after violating the terms of her probation relating to a DUI back in 2007.
She attended court-ordered rehab and left the Betty Ford Centre for her drink and drug dependancy on January 3.
Earlier this month, Lohan's lawyer had said of the theft charges, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."
Lohan is due back in court on March 10.
