Joaquin apologises to Letterman
Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix.
Joaquin Phoenix has returned to The Late Show With David Letterman and apologised for his infamous last appearance on the show. Phoenixs awkward 2009 interview with Letterman became an online hit after the actor appeared in sunglasses with long hair and an unkempt beard, chewing gum and mumbling that he had given up acting to become a rapper. However, as was revealed last week, the actor was actually in character for his recently released mockumentary Im Still Here.
"I mean, I think that you've interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person," Phoenix told Letterman last night. "I hope I didn't offend you in any way."
"Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no," Letterman replied. "I'm telling you, it was so much fun. It was batting practice, you know what I mean? Every one of them was a dinger. I was looking for a beat down, and I got one... I want to thank you for that."
After it was claimed the chat show king was in on the act, Letterman was also quick to set things straight. "Was there a script that you and I were working with?" he asked Phoenix, who immediately responded: "No."
