Gwyneth Paltrow might be set to give Coldplay singer husband Chris Martin a run for his money in the music stakes, as the Hollywood actress has just landed a reported £600,000 music contract with Atlantic.
The Academy Award-winning star caught the attention of the Warner Music-owned label after her recent foray into music. The 38-year-old Proof actress played a country singer in recent film Country Strong, and performed the movie's song Coming Home at the Grammys and Oscars last month.
The star has also enjoyed chart success abroad after the songs she performed in film Duets back in 2000, went platinum in Australia upon release.
And the mother-of-two has also recently reprised her role in US hit musical comedy Glee. Paltrow has been starring as substitute teacher Holly Holiday and performed Joan Jett's Do You Wanna Touch Me while previously singing Cee-Lo Green's hit Forget You.
Speaking about the possibility of a recording contract after her performance at the 83rd annual Academy Awards, the star told Access Hollywood, "We're talking about it now. So we'll see."
And on her role in Glee, she added, "My parts were usually quite serious and I was looking for something fun and different to do. When [creator] Ryan [Murphy] asked me to be on Glee, I thought, 'How much fun would it be to sing and dance and just be ridiculous and silly?' I'm just having so much fun."
Paltrow's Glee medley of Rihanna's Umbrella and Singing In The Rain entered the singles chart at number 22, while her Cee-Lo Green cover reached 31, according to the Official Charts Company.
It's being reported that Paltrow's album is likely to be comprised of country singles.
