Cowell to ring X Factor changes
X Factor boss Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell is looking to introduce a fifth judge to the X Factor panel after the show was criticised after this weekends elimination, the Sun reports. More than 1,200 complaints have been made since Treyc Cohen was voted off the show on Sunday night when judge Cheryl Cole refused to cast a vote. Following the controversy, insiders say Cowell invited 20 fans to a brainstorming session to look at how the show could be improved and the idea of a fifth judge was suggested.
"The idea is 90% a done deal. Simon is still figuring out exactly how it will work," a source explained. "On one level it could mean that if one of the judges opted out of voting it could still go to deadlock if the others were split two-two. But the danger is if they all had voting rights and chose to vote it would never go to deadlock."
The source added that, rather than find another full time judge, using the Sunday night shows guest performer as judge is the most likely solution. "Simon has always thought a guest judge on live shows would bring some extra drama to proceedings," the source explained. "And he hopes they will shoot from the hip and put a rocket under the rest of the judges, who often bite their tongues."
