Campbell explains supermodel bond

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has gushed about the special bond she says existed between her fellow top models. Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi were the most high-profile models in the world in the 80s and 90s, earning them the supermodel nickname. However, rather than competing for jobs, Campbell has said the friends and comrades were supportive of each other.
"None of us ever cared about this word 'supermodel'... But what we did like was being together. We were very supportive of one another, my group of girls, and I don't think that happens so much nowadays, Naomi told Interview magazine. "We were all doing shows in each country, working non-stop, but it didn't matter because we enjoyed being together. We would all have our rooms next to one another - it was like a dorm on tour... I'm happy that I got to be around such a great group of ladies."
Naomi also explained how their bond was so tight it made lasting changes to the fashion industry. "There were certain designers who hadn't used models of colour in their shows, and Christy and Linda said to them, 'If you don't take Naomi, then you don't get us', she revealed. "My friends and comrades stuck up for me. That doesn't happen in fashion."
They were probably scared stiff of you Naomi!
