Busy year ahead for Anne Hathaway. Not only has the actress scored an upcoming role in Glee (as reported on Tuesday), but she's set to play Catwoman in the next instalment of the Batman franchise, Dark Knight Rises.
Of course, it's a double role, so Hathaway's other identity will be Selina Kyle, in much the same way that Christian Bale plays both Batman and Bruce Wayne. The Orange Rising Star BAFTA nominated Tom Hardy will play the villain Bane.
Talking to the press, director Christopher Nolan said:
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."
Hope Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz, Blake Lively and Natalie Portman - who were all reported to have tried out for the role, aren't too disappointed (the pregnant latter probably can't get away with wearing a catsuit for a few months anyway).
And if this wasn't enough reason to celebrate, the 28-year-old's petitioning for a role in Glee paid off on Sunday night when the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, agreed to give her a guest part, saying:
"I think we’ll do it probably in a month and a half or so… I have to talk to Anne about what she wants to sing. I’m sure she has ideas. I’m excited about that."
But before that, Hathaway has the small job of presenting the Oscars next month.
