If it was two girls in an alleged 'diet war' (ie, say Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle - as it once was), it would cause concern, with people saying how silly they were, but obviously it's a different thing if it's two blokes - pats on the backs all round, pah.
According to reports, Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow have a four-figure bet riding on who shifts pounds before the band's Progress tour kicks off in May, with The Sun quoting Robbie as saying:
"Me and Gary vary in weight. We go up and down by the week.
"Gary and the boys were at my house in LA last week when Gary turns to me and says, 'I won't be needing these clothes soon, do you want them?' – 'cos he's going on a diet.
"That was the day I thought, 'Right, if you're eating a lettuce, I'm eating half a lettuce.'
"There is now a serious game on to see who can get the thinnest for the tour.
"You know The Machinist with Christian Bale? I'm going for Christian Bale."
Well, Christian Bale was said to have lost a third of his body weight for his Machinist role, so Robbie's going to have his work cut out - and then probably have to get wheeled onto the stage due to fatigue.
What do you reckon? Reckless dieting or just a bit of weight loss fun?
