Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend have reportedly ended their five year relationship.
Cupid's definitely been on strike for the last month… We might have had a few engagement announcements (Sarah Harding, Lily Allen, Reese Witherspoon), but that doesn't nearly make up for all the love splits… The latest celeb pair to end their relationships? We're afraid it's Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend.
Whilst not a regular fixture on the red carpet, the acting pair had been going strong since meeting on the set of 2005's Pride & Prejudice, so this has come as quite a shock - despite rumours last month when Rupert attended a high profile event on his lonesome.
Obviously Keira hasn't got a Katie Price-sized mouth so there's been no great over-sharing of gossip, although her dad has confirmed the break-up, telling The Sun:
"Yes, they have broken up.
"But that's the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things.
"They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She's focused on her work."
One person who'll be heartbroken by this news is Keira's The Edge Of Love co-star Sienna Miller, who recently said she envied the couple, describing how they (used to) spend their evenings reading books and discussing topics, adding: "It’s the kind of life I aspire to." (we take it Jude's not much of a reader).
Luckily Keira's got quite a packed schedule, which should help take her mind off things; she's about to tread the boards alongside Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss in play The Children's Hour, and, of course, has award season to look forward to - her next flick, Never Let Me Go, has already been tipped for a few gongs.
