Anne Hathaway for Batman Dark Knight Rises role?
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway is reportedly battling it out with Jessica Biel to take over from Maggie Gyllenhaal in the next Batman installment.
It's probably going to be the biggest casting room battle since The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - who's going to be the female lead in the next Batman film?
The baton has already been passed from Katie Holmes (Batman Begins) to Maggie Gyllenhaal (Dark Knight), and now the names being mentioned in association with the third flick of the reboot include Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel. Tough competition indeed.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, an alleged insider blabbed about the Christopher Nolan directed movie:
"Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are due to test for roles in the Warner Bros. superhero tentpole in the next two weeks. Also testing are relative newcomers Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley. Hot British actress Gemma Arterton has also scheduled to test."
Considering she's just been nominated for the Orange Wednesday Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs, Gemma Arterton is looking like a strong contender. Then again, it would be interesting to see Kate Mara score the role - it's her sister, Rooney, who landed the part of Lisbeth Salander in the hotly awaited - and aforementioned - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Power siblings alert!
As for male lead, that's going to the Golden Globe nominated Christian Bale again, although he's already said it will be his last, telling E!:
"Unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman."
