5 Questions to help you decide if you need the new iPhone 4S
Those of us expecting the iPhone 5 to be revealed at yesterday's Apple press conference were left disappointed - instead Apple have been working on an updated version of the existing iPhone - the iPhone 4S. But is it worth investing in an upgrade? Here are five questions you need to consider
Do you travel a lot and want a phone that actually works wherever you go?
If the answer is yes, the iPhone 4S offers worldwide coverage between GSM and CDMA networks, unlike the iPhone 4, where you had one or the other. This iPhone 4s feature may not sound that exciting, but if you find yourself racking up frequent flier miles, this is going to make things easier on you. Rather than switching SIM cards or going without coverage while youre away on business or pleasure, you will have a functioning phone as soon as the flight attendant tells you its OK to turn it back on.
Do you need to have the latest thing with the newest look?
If you wanted a phone that looked newer, now is not the time to get out your wallet. There was no design overhaul, no new curved edges or different shapes as some suggested. The iPhones design is great as is, but if you want people to know you have the iPhone 4S, you will have to tell them, because the only changes covered function without form.
Are you frustrated with your battery life?
You are in luck. The iPhone 4S has an improved battery or as was said at the launch fantastic battery life. What does this mean in real time? 40 hours of music. 10 hours of video. 8 hours of 3G talk time, 14 hours of 2G talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 9 hours of Wi-Fi browsing...you get the idea.
Do you embarrass easily?
If youre willing to talk to your phone rather than in it, you might start shouting about the voice feature Siri. Want to set an alarm for 7am? Want to say it in a Geordie accent in every way you can think of asking? Siri has you covered. But do you think you will actually use this feature anywhere out in the real world? Its impressive yes, but whether or not is is worth the upgrade depends on how confident you are talking to your gadgets in public.
Are you impatient?
The iPhone 4S upped its specs to allow faster connections, faster loading and reloading, and faster downloads, plus better call quality. If you think your current phone is too slow, and you havent the time to wait on a better signal, the new iPhone will take off the edge.
Overall verdict: Lady Geek says the iPhone 4S isnt worth the money. You might wonder what could be better than the new iPhone? Probably the next iPhone. We recommend you wait.
