Many said the recession would have an impact on the red carpet fashion at this year's Oscars, but it really didn't disappoint. There were plenty of glamorous frocks and heaps of expensive, twinkling jewels on show that flew in the face of the forecasted understated look. It was all white on the night, as cream, ivory and pale greys were the big colour choices of the evening, with Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz, Marisa Tomei, Anne Hathaway and Evan Rachel Wood all plumping for dresses in light hues. The night belonged to Slumdog Millionaire, however, which scooped eight awards, and it was current fashion darling and star of the film, Freida Pinto, who really wowed in an asymmetric, blue gown by John Galliano. The shoulder continues to reign supreme too, with the strapless gown and the aforementioned asymmetric style still firm favourites. Read on to see all the fashion hits and misses from the night...
