Models turned singers
These days, it seems being a fantastically famous supermodel isn\'t enough - you have to prove you\'re multi-talented. Why not launch a perfume, design your own fashion line, turn your hand to acting or even have a go at being a pop star? Unfortunately, looking great on the catwalk doesn\'t guarantee success in the recording studio...

Heidi Klum model turned singer
Most famous for her work for lingerie company Victoria\'s Secret, 35-year-old German-born supermodel Heidi Klum recently had her legs insured for over £1m. In 2006, Heidi released her debut single Wonderland, which was originally written for a series of television adverts for a German retailer. With a Christmas theme, the song was more of a jingle, complete with angelic children and sleigh bells, but it did reach No 13 in Germany. Last year Heidi recorded the duet Wedding Day with her husband, British-born singer Seal, for his latest album System, and the couple performed the song live at the Victoria\'s Secret show in December. In her spare time Heidi hosts, judges and produces the hit reality show Project Runway US too!

Tyra Banks models turned singers
35-year-old supermodel and America\'s Next Top Model judge Tyra Banks began her modelling career when she was just 17. She has appeared on the catwalk for fashion giants Chanel, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabanna and Victoria\'s Secret and been a cover girl for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Cosmopolitan, to name but a few. Tyra revealed her other talents when she made guest appearances on TV and appeared in music videos for Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. In 2004, Tyra recorded her first single Shake Ya Body - the video featured contestants from America\'s Next Top Model. Although singing has been a lifelong passion for Tyra, the single flopped and her album was never released. Later Tyra said, "I can\'t believe I wasted 6 years of doing something that I didn\'t finish... but since my music career hit rock bottom I quit.

Carla Bruni model turned singer
Italian-born Carla Bruni, 40, was signed with City Models in Paris when she was 19 years old, and when she caught the eye of the president of Guess? Inc. she shot to fame. Carla worked for many big names including Christian Dior, Givenchy and Paco Rabanne and in her peak in the 90\'s she was amongst the 20 highest-paid fashion models. In 1997, Carla left the catwalk behind for the studio, and began her musical journey. French singer Julien Clerc set Carla\'s lyrics to seven tracks on his album Si J\'etais Elle. However, it wasn\'t until 2002 that Carla\'s very own debut album Quelqu\'un M\'a Dit was released. Three of the album\'s tracks were featured in the US film Conversations With Other Women in 2005. She released her second album No Promises in 2007 on the independent French record label Naïve. Carla\'s third album, Comme Si De Rien N\'etait, was released on 11 July 2008. Oh, and she\'s also married to the president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Kate Moss model turned singer
British supermodel Kate Moss, 34, also dabbles in music and it\'s not really suprising considering her penchant for dating musicians (ex-boyfriend is Pete Doherty of Babyshambles and she\'s currently engaged to The Kills front man Jamie Hince). Kate was discovered in an airport in 1988 when she was just 14 and went on to become the face of the waif look in the ‘90s. In 2003, her vocals featured on Primal Scream\'s Some Velvet Morning, and she appeared in the video. She also sang on a Babyshambles single titled La Belle Et La Bete and had a go on stage at one of the band\'s gigs. Kate\'s also made appearances in music videos for The White Stripes and Elton John. Look out for her on the next The Kills album - probably.

Agyness Deyn models turned singers
After featuring on the cover of American Vogue in 2007, 25-year-old Agyness Deyn, became the new face of British youth culture. Since then she has appeared on the cover of UK Vogue and is a paparazzi favourite. Agyness recently recorded vocals on the Five O\'Clock Heroes track, Who, appeared in the video, and performed live on stage with the band. Unfortunately, the song didn\'t get rave reviews - in fact, NME described the collaboration as Five O\'Clock Heroes "shamelessly nailing their rotting corpse to a sparkling celebrity wagon". Oh dear. We won\'t be looking out for Aggy on the Glastonbury stage next year then.

Naomi Campbell model turned singer
38-year-old fury machine Naomi Campbell has been an international supermodel since 1988 and was British Vogue\'s first black cover girl, although she\'s achieved real infamy from throwing world-class temper tantrums. Naomi\'s first appearance was when she was only seven in Bob Marley\'s video for Is This Love, and in the ‘90s she appeared in the music videos for Madonna\'s Erotica and George Michael\'s Freedom. In 1991, Naomi teamed up with rapper Vanilla Ice on the single Cool As Ice. Naomi released her own album Baby Woman in 1995 - the single Love And Tears was a flop in the UK, but it was a success in Japan and sold over one million copies worldwide, but no second album followed.

Katie Price model turned singer
Glamour girl Katie Price aka Jordan, 30, became famous for her Page 3 modelling in The Sun and Playboy shoots - Katie\'s all about the boobs. On top of modelling, Katie has made herself a fortune estimated at £30m from her reality TV shows, autobiographies, children\'s book series, lingerie lines and perfumes. In 2005, Katie entered herself in the competition to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Not Just Anybody - heavily pregnant, she gave a cringe-worthy performance in a tight pink catsuit. In 2006, Katie released a charity album of duets with her husband, ‘90s Australian pop star Peter Andre. Titled A Whole New World, the record was so incredibly cheesey that it gained cult status and made it to number 20 in the UK charts.
