The range consists of shoes, watches and bags – the name comes from an acronym of her first solo album’s name Love, Angel, Music, Baby. Celebrities such as Teri Hatcher, Nicole Kidman and Paris Hilton are known to wear the brand and the line is said to make an annual gross income of $90m, which Stefani pockets on top of her other business ventures and song royalties.

Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, Puff Daddy and Diddy, isn’t known only as a rapper who likes to change his name a lot. The entrepreneur’s also a record producer, actor, men’s fashion designer and dancer. Where does he find the time? Diddy’s business interests include Bad Boy Records, the fashion labels Sean John and Sean by Sean Combs, a movie production company and the restaurant chain Justin’s. As a result P/Puff/Diddy/Daddy was named No 1 in a list of the top 10 richest people in hip-hop in 2002.

In 2002 J.Lo opened a Cuban restaurant in California named Madre’s and she’s also delved into the world of perfume a number of times. The diva owns the film and production company Nuyorican Productions, which is said to be worth $100m in NET Worth stocks.

Oprah also has her own magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine, which is credited as being the most successful magazine launch in recent history, and has a circulation of 2.3 million readers each month. In 2004, O, At Home an interiors magazine was launched. Oprah has also produced Broadway musicals, such as The Color Purple at the Broadway Theatre in New York. As a result of the success of Harpo Entertainment Group Winfrey has been named the first black woman billionaire in world history.

Actor Robert De Niro is also co-owner of Tribeca Grill and a co-owner of The Greenwich Hotel in New York. The Tribeca Grill opened in 1990, and although De Niro co-owns the venture, its investors include Bill Murray and Sean Penn. The restaurant is on the first two floors of the Tribeca Film Centre, which is handily the headquarters for De Niro’s film company Tribeca Productions .The actor also co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival.

Legendary actor Clint Eastwood’s sidelines include the exclusive Tehàma Golf Club, in Monterey County. The invitation only club has around 300 members, and a joining fee of $500,000. Additionally Eastwood co-owns Pebble Beach Golf Club and the owns the Mission Ranch, a historic 1850s farmhouse, Hotel and Restaurant, which has 31 unique rooms each with an ocean view, fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs. On top of this Clint owns Malpaso Productions, which produced many of the films Clint starred in, including Million Dollar Baby and Dirty Harry.

The queen of pop, who’s reinvented herself more times than we’ve had hot dinners, has also stuck her fingers in a number of pies on the side. As well as being a singer, actress and political activist, Madonna is a film director, fashion designer and publisher of children’s books. Madonna’s directorial debut was Filth And Wisdom, which received mix reviews. The Times Online said she had “done herself proud” while The Daily Telegraph described the film as “not an entirely unpromising first effort [but] Madonna would do well to hang on to her day job.” The singer’s fashion line, M by Madonna, which she designed with H&M, is said to have increased the stores profits by 31% when it hit the shelves.

Being a world famous supermodel and fashion icon, stepping into fashion design seemed like the next step for waif-like Kate Moss. Kate put her name to the Kate Moss for Topshop range, and was reportedly paid £3m for her work, which consists of choosing designs and modelling them. The collection received mixed reviews from the fashion press. The New York Post called it “Duplikate” claiming it was similar to the model’s own wardrobe, which Trinny and Susanna argued the clothing was not suitable for an average woman’s figure. In addition Moss co-wrote four songs for Babyshambles\' second album Shotter’s Nation.

Danish model Helena Christensen owns Butik Christensen and Sigersen in New York’s West Village with her pal Leif Sigersen. Butik (the Danish spelling of boutique) combines Christensen’s fashion sense with vintage tones and the pair pick their products from other boutiques around the world. They pair launched their own label in 2006, and create their designs in the butik’s workshop.

The whopping $1.9bn firm makes large-scale investments in selected media and entertainment companies. Bono’s company has partnered with Forbes and the website Move. But Elevation is just one of Bono’s many enterprises. In 2005 he founded Eden Clothing, a fair trade group selling clothing made in the developing world, while he also has interests in hotels, real estate, restaurants and a recording studio currently being built in Dublin. On top of this, we should remember U2 own the rights to their own music, so Bono can’t be doing too badly.
