by Celebrity Features Editor Zoe Drewitt

These days, we can always rely on Tom Cruise for entertainment, and we don\'t just mean his movies. The latest furore around the sofa-jumping megastar has centered around a leaked Church Of Scientology video with Tom extolling the virtues of being a Scientologist to the theme of Mission Impossible. Tom Cruise is the most famous Scientologist in the world - he\'s not afraid to speak out about his faith and it\'s got him into more hot water than we\'ve had hot dinners. He\'s even banned from visiting Germany, where government officials have declared the religion a cult. But wee Tom\'s not the only famous Scientologist, you\'ll be surprised to see who else is digging the Scientology vibe.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Tom Cruise,Katie Holmes, celebrity, hollywood, scientology, scientologist, tomkat Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Scientology is an ‘applied religious philosophy\' that was created by science fiction writer L Ron Hubbard in 1952. Cruise was first introduced to the ‘religion\' by his ex-wife Mimi Rogers. Tom says that the Church Of Scientology freed him from dyslexia and can cure drug addiction and mental health problems without psychiatry or medication. Katie Holmes converted to Scientology, and David Miscavige, head of the Church Of Scientology, was Tom\'s best man at their wedding. There was much speculation over whether Katie would have a ‘silent birth\' - a practice advocated by L Ron Hubbard in which ‘everyone attending the birth should refrain from spoken words as much as possible\'. Never mind Katie, we\'re not sure if Tom is capable of refraining from spoken words

John Travolta and Kelly Preston

celebrity,John Travolta, bitch, kelly preston, hollywood, scientology, scientologist John Travolta Scientology Runner up in the ‘Most Famous Scientologist Awards\' goes to John Travolta. He and his wife Kelly Preston are openly dedicated to the cause. John even made a movie version of L Ron Hubbard\'s science fiction novel Battlefield Earth - it bombed at the box office. When asked about Tom Cruise\'s leaked video, John said, "Tom has - we all have - the right to practise how we feel. Don\'t judge someone until they have tossed your salad." We have absolutely no idea what that means - maybe salad tossing is a big thing in Scientology circles. Maybe they go round to each other\'s houses and have salad tossing contests. Who knows?

Jason Lee

celebrity bodies, celebrity,TV,hollywood, actor, scientology, scientologist, jason lee,my name is earl Jason Lee Scientology

We\'re having a bit of trouble getting our heads round the fact that ultra-cool My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee is a Scientologist - go figure. He got into the religion on set - his co-star Ethan Suplee (pictured) is a member of the Church and is married to Juliette Lewis\'s sister. On the subject of silent births, Lee\'s co-star Jaime Pressly said that he told her that "in Scientology they believe that if the woman is screaming bloody murder it traumatizes the child". Another Scientology practice is to use a machine called an E-meter which measures electrical resistance in a person\'s body by holding on to metal cans to find trouble spots. Jason Lee is a Scientologist - crikey.

Juliette Lewis

celebrity,juliette lewis,hollywood,scientology,scientologist Juliette Lewis Scientology

‘Quirky\' actress and singer Juliette Lewis was brought up as a Scientologist, in fact her father was a very prominent member of the Church its early stages. Juliette is quoted as saying, "I am no longer stuck in the bottomless pit of despair and apathy. Having achieved the state of Clear is the single most important thing that I\'ve done for myself. It has allowed me to experience life in a way I only imagined." The state of Clear is defined by Wikipedia as "a condition in which a person is free of the unwanted influence of... unwanted emotions or painful traumas which are not readily available to the awareness of present time".

Giovanni Ribisi

celebrity, hollywood, scientology, scientologist Giovanni Ribisi Scientology Pale and interesting Lost In Translation actor Giovanni was brought up as a Scientologist. He says, "Scientology has given me certainty of myself. I have the ability to comfortably communicate with anyone in any situation and be certain of my own goals." That\'s nice for him.

Beck

celebrity, scientology, scientologist, beck Beck Scientology Being a famous Scientologist seems to be all about connections. OK, get this - eclectic rock star Beck\'s mum was the midwife at the birth of Giovanni Ribisi and his twin sister Marissa - and now Beck\'s married to Marissa! Beck doesn\'t really like to talk about his Scientology beliefs, but he has said that it ‘brings joy\'. Rumour has it that homicidal maniac Charles Manson studied Scientology, but decided it was a bit too whacky for him.

Isaac Hayes

celebrity,scientology,scientologist,isaac hayes Isaac Hayes Scientology

He wrote the theme to \'70s blaxploitation movie Shaft - and he\'s a Scientologist. He says, "Scientology is the gateway to eternity. It is the path to happiness and total spiritual freedom." Isaac was also the voice of Chef in South Park for many years, but quit the show when creators Tray Parker and Matt Stone gave Scientology the South Park treatment in an episode entitled In The Closet, calling them bigoted. It seems Isaac was OK with the boys bashing Islam, Judaism or Christianity, but didn\'t think it was so funny when it was his chosen faith. Another Scientologist behind an animated character is Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson - she was recently revealed as the Church of Scientology\'s biggest celebrity donor.

Lisa Marie Presley

celebrity, scientology, scientologist, lisa marie presley Lisa Marie Presley Scientology Elvis\' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley (pictured with mum Priscilla to her right) says that, "Were it not for Scientology, I would either be completely insane or dead by now. I am forever grateful for the technology of Scientology and to Mr Hubbard who dedicated his life to helping man and this planet, as well as to the people who have dedicated their lives to helping others through Scientology." We\'re not sure whether she said this before or after her marriage to Michael Jackson

Kirstie Alley

celebrity,scientology,scientologist,kirsty alley Kirstey Alley Scientology

Victoria\'s Closet star Kirstie is a spokeswomen for the Church Of Scientology\'s drugs and alcohol program, Narconon and confesses she had a cocaine addiction in the late \'70s until she became a Scientologist. Interestingly, she turned to weight loss expert Jenny Craig to help her slim down, even though the Church Of Scientology claims they can help people lose weight. When asked about her views on mental health care she\'s been quoted as saying, "I don\'t like psychiatry and I don\'t believe it works. And I believe psychiatrists are neurotic or psychotic, for the most part.\'

Danny Masterson

celebrity,hollywood,scientology,scientologist,danny masterson Danny Masterson Scientology

That \'70s Show star James Masterson (pictured with actress Bijou Phillips) credits Scientology teachings as adding ‘to my toolbox of data for living\'. His co-star and girlfriend Laura Prepon has also joined the Church. He and his brother, Malcom In The Middle star, Christopher Masterson, were both raised Scientologists. Masterson was at the opening of the jauntily named Scientology project - "Psychiatry: An Industry Of Death" Museum. In 2005 Tom Cruise caused an uproar by publicly criticising Brooke Shields for taking medication to overcome post-natal depression.

Jerry Seinfeld

celebrity,Comedy, hollywood, actor, scientology, scientologist, jerry seinfeld Jerry Seinfeld It\'s totally bizarre that a comedian who has basically made a living from his Jewishness could be linked to another belief system, but it seems that dear Jerry paddled in the pool of Scientology in the past. "I took a couple of courses a number of years ago that I thought were fabulous. I learned a lot and I had a good experience with it. I think the stuff I learned there really did help me a lot," says the star. He did take a pop at Scientology on his show Seinfeld though, so we\'re not sure exactly where Jerry stands on this now!

Will Smith

Will Smith,Tom Cruise, celebrity, scientology, scientologist, tomkat Will SMith and Tom Cruise According to New York Daily News sources, Will Smith gave the crew members on new blockbuster Hancock a gift card for a free personality test at their local Scientology centre as one of his ‘wrap presents\' - gifts traditionally handed out by big stars when a movie production ends. But Will has previously denied being an actual member of the controversial church. Speaking to Access Hollywood he said, "I was introduced to it by Tom, and I\'m a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household. I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98% the same ideas of Scientology, 98% the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism." We\'re not sure whether the Pope and the Dalai Lama would agree with you, Will.
