After a Madonna fan was sentenced to be detained indefinitely after breaking into the singer\'s London home, we consider the most famous cases of celebrity stalking.
\r\n\r\nMadonna
\r\nAfter writing M, the universe brought us together in 1992 and again this year in Prague. Meet me please outside Madonnas New York apartment building, retired fireman Robert Linhart was arrested. He was eventually released on bail for £12,000 after he denied resisting arrest and weapons possession, while his lawyers argued he was merely a fan.
\r\n But of course, this isnt the first time that Madonnas had to deal with unwanted fan attention.
In 1996, another Robert, this time a Hoskins, was sent to jail for 10 years after stalking and making violent threats against Madonna. Homeless Hoskins had been arrested the year before after he claimed the Material Girl was his wife, and threatened to slice her throat from ear to ear. He also threatened to kill her bodyguards for coming between them, and at one point actually managed to get within 10 feet of her after scaling the wall of her LA home. On his third attempt he was shot and wounded in a scuffle with guards. He continued hounding her from prison and wrote \'Madonna\'s stalker\' on the walls of his cell. Hoskins prison time was up in 2006, and thereve been no reports of him pestering the star since.

A woman climbed on stage and approached Collin Farrell during filming of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno in July 2006. Dessarae Bradford handed Colin and Jay a copy of her self-published book Colin Farrell: A Dark Twisted Puppy. And it that wasnt bizarre enough, Bradford also wrote another book entitled I F**ked Alec Baldwin In His A*s wow. Bradford was told to remain at least 150 yards from the actor, his six-year-old son James and the child\'s mother, model Kim Bordenave, according to the restraining order issued in Los Angeles Superior Court, which expired in August 2009. Thereve been no reports of Dessarae trying to contact Farrell since her restraining order was lifted. So maybe shes learnt her lesson?

A man was convicted on 6 May 2008 of stalking Kill Bill star Uma Thurman. Jack Jordan from the US state of Maryland, was arrested in October 2007 for allegedly hounding the actress over two years, including repeatedly emailing a terrified Uma and her father, and threatening to kill himself in a phone call to Uma\'s mother. Unsurprisingly, Jordan had received psychiatric treatment in the past. Jordan\'s lawyer said in his defence that he didnt think the way you and I think. He doesn\'t know the boundaries you and I know\". No kidding!

After bombarding her with letters, in 1981 he flew to Washington and shot and wounded Ronald Reagan, who was then US President, along with three members of his staff. Hinckley claimed he had done it to impress Jodie with his \"historical deed\". And to think we usually get won over by flowers! Hinckley has been in a psychiatric institution in Washington ever since.

Shizawa counteracted by attempting to sue Britney and two of her security guards for causing him extreme emotional distress stemming from a confrontation with the guards outside of her house in 2002. Britney was removed as a defendant from the trial, because, well, that wouldve gone against the restraining order wouldnt it.

cheryl cole
Earlier this year it was reported that police were investigating a rape threat left for Cheryl Cole on Dermot OLearys voicemail. X Factor presenter OLeary is believed to have raised the alarm after hearing the disturbing message. A City of London Police spokesman confirmed an investigation had been launched, saying, We are investigating claims of an offensive message being left on a mobile telephone. It follows a complaint from a member of the public.
\r\n\r\nThis isnt the first crazed fan Cheryl has come face-to-face with. Back before she was Saint Cheryl she worked in a café in Newcastle, and told Q magazine she received her fair share of unwanted attention. There was this creep who used to come in a couple of days a week, the singer told the magazine. He was fine at first, but then he started asking to look at my feet. I wore open-toed sandals, and he said he loved my feet. I was about 15 years-old and he was a 30 year-old man.
\r\n\r\nAs if that wasnt enough, after Girls aloud came off stage at G-A-Y in 2007, the band found a naked, lesbian stalker in their dressing room!
