The singer pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault and escaped a prison sentence.  Instead, Brown will serve up to five years of supervised probation and complete six months community labour.

Fred Durst

fred durst,celebrities behaving badly,jail Fred Durst In October 2007, Fred Durst was arrested for trying run over two people with his vehicle when his temper got the better of him. The punishment to fit his crime? A 120-day suspended jail sentence, 20 hours community service, and a $1,500 fine.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan,celebrity,celebrities behaving badly Lindsay Lohan Lindsay Lohan has been involved in a number driving accidents over the years. In May 2007 she was arrested after losing control of her car in Beverly Hills and hitting a curb, police found a “useable amount” of cocaine in her car car. In July 2007 police were called to a Santa Monica car park where they found Lohan in her car having a “heated debate” with her personal assistant. After failing a sobriety test, police took her in to custody where they again found her in possession of cocaine. The following month Lindsay pleaded guilty to cocaine possession and DUI and was sentenced to one day in prison, but due to overcrowding she served just 84 minutes!

Eminem

celebrity,eminem,celebrities behaving badly Eminem On 4 May 2000, Eminem was arrested after he got into a fight outside a nightclub with a man who was kissing his estranged wife, Kim. He was charged with having a concealed weapon and assault and sentenced to one year’s probation and community service.

Robert Downey Jr

celebrity,celebrities behaving badly,robert downey jr Robert Downey Jr In 1996 Robert Downey Jr was arrested for drink driving and being in possession of Mexican Black Tar heroin, crack, cocaine and an unloaded Magnum .357 revolver. The Sherlock Holmes star was sentenced to three years probation, before being sentenced to six months in jail after he violated his parole in 1997.

Kid Rock

kid rock,celebrity,celebrities behaving badly Kid Rock In 2005 Kid Rock was arrested for an altercation with a DJ at Christie’s Cabaret strip club in Nashville, because he didn’t like his choice of music. Rock pleaded no contest to criminal assault and was given a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days and ordered to attend anger management classes. The DJ, however, decided to take matters into his own hands and sued Rock for £350,000.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey,celebrity,celebrities behaving badly Matthew McConaughey In 1999, Fool’s Gold star Matthew McConaughey was arrested at his home in Austin, Texas for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. The police turned up after a neighbour complained of loud music. According to police reports, McConnaughey was found dancing naked and playing bongo drums with a friend. The drug charges were dropped but the actor pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and paid a $50 fine.

Christian Slater

A plea agreement was reached and Slater carried out three days of community service, which included working with homeless children, avoiding jail time.

Mel Gibson

celebrities behaving badly,mel gibson Mel Gibson In 2006, Mel Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence when he was caught driving at 85mph while over the limit with an open bottle of tequila on his person. At first police told gossip website TMZ the arrest had occurred “without incident”. But then a document was leaked to the site which suggested Gibson had also gone on an anti-Semitic tirade, declaring “Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,” and asking the arresting officer, “Are you a Jew?” During his rant Gibson also reportedly yelled at a female sergeant, “What do you think you’re looking at, sugar tits?”

Shortly after the case was reported Gibson released a statement, "There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark," he said. "Please know from my heart I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith." However, he later denied calling the officer ‘sugar tits’, but confessed he wished he’d thought up the phrase. The filmmaker pleaded no contest to a count of driving while over the legal limit, and the was ordered to attend a 12-step rehabilitation course, a three-month alcohol-abuse education programme, had a 90-day revocation of his driving licence, and received three years probation, while avoiding jail time.

Mischa Barton

The OC actress was taken into custody after her car was stopped in West Hollywood before being release on £5,000 bail. The actress was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation after pleading no contest to drunken driving, sparing herself jail time.

Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez,celebrity,celebrities behaving badly Michelle Rodriguez Fast And Furious’ star Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced to 180 days in jail for violating probation stemming from a driving under the influence arrest. The 29-year-old admitted to violating her probation by failing to provide proof of completion of community service and for drinking three times while wearing her alcohol-monitoring anklet. But just 17 days into her 180-day sentence, the actress was released. “She’s nice, personable, down to earth… nothing like Paris Hilton.” a correctional officer told Us magazine. “She asked to work. She said she wanted a job and didn’t want to be isolated like other celebrities.” But happy to be let out early like other celebrities, we suppose?
