There are celebrities that are in it for the fame, and there are celebrities that are in it for the fortune. Then there are celebrities that appear to truly believe in their work. Here we take a look at the Hollywood men, those rare gems that will go down in the hall of fame for being the biggest and best superstars of their time.

Clint Eastwood

A living legend, Eastwood is best known for directing and starring in an array of Hollywood westerns such as A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966), plus his hard man cop roles such as Dirty Harry (1971). Most recently he played Frankie Dunn in Million Dollar Baby (2004), which he also directed, and he is due to star in Gran Torino (2008). At 74, Eastwood became the oldest person to win the Best Director Oscar, for Million Dollar Baby.

Michael Caine

celebrity gossip,Michael Caine, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Michael Caine Michael Caine has been on our screens, and in our lives, for over four decades, and at 74 years old, The Dark Knight is his latest outing in Hollywood. Caine was first catapulted to super-stardom when he took the title role in Alfie (1966). In 1983 he won a BAFTA for his role in Educating Rita, opposite Julie Walters. Now one of the most recognisable and distinguished actors in the world, Michael has won two Oscars and was knighted in 2002.

Will Smith

Will Smith, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Will Smith Will Smith doesn’t do things by halves; he’s taken over celebville Big Willy Style. Starting out young, with a rap career and a sitcom based on his Beverly Hills life called The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Will Smith had made his first million before he even reached 20. The artist formerly known as the Fresh Prince was No 1 on the 2008 highest earning celebrity list, earning over $80m in 2007 alone. Smith also came 11th on the Forbes Celebrity 100 2008, and following Hancock’s success at the box office Will holds the record for the most consecutive $100m-grossing movies.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Johnny Depp Johnny Depp has an amazing ability to enthral audiences with his characters. He originally wanted to be a rock star but started in movies after Nicolas Cage suggested he give acting a try. Johnny’s first role was in A Nightmare On Elm Street and now he’s a household name, thanks to roles such as of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy. He’s also made it OK for men like Russell Brand to parade around looking like pirates, and for women like us to fancy them. He was placed at six on the Forbes Celebrity 100 List 2008 and Channel 4 named him as the second Greatest Actor of All Time. To top it all, he recently announced he would donate his fee from The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus to the late Heath Ledger’s daughter, Matilda Rose. Johnny’s due to appear in the next Batman film, which should mean it’s going to be bigger and better than the last one.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Tom Cruise Top gun in the Hollwood stakes, Tom Cruise has been tabloid fodder recently for his belief in Scientology and marrying a girl 16 years his junior, rather than his acting talents. He headed to New York at the tender age of 18, to pursue a career in acting (having decided that being a priest wasn’t for him). His first film was Endless Love (1981), which led to Tom to appearing in some of the top grossing films of the 1980s, Top Gun (1986) and Rain Man (1988). By the ’90s Cruise was one of the highest paid actors in the world, earning an average $15m for every film he starred in, which included Interview With The Vampire (1994), Mission Impossible (1996) and Jerry Maguire (1996). Tom was named as the 31st most influential celebrity in The Forbes Celebrity 100 list 2008, and Hollywood’s most bankable star in 2006.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Christian Bale Originally appearing on our screens in Empire Of The Sun (1987) at just 12 years old, Christian Bale was destined for stardom. And 21 years later and Bale has just had his biggest box office hit yet, playing Batman in The Dark Knight. Christian first made it big following the success of American Psycho (2000), where he played a British playboy with a dark secret. From his film work, Christian, who is originally from Wales, has become known as the master of accents, and is alleged to use his natural accent in only one film, Metroland (1997). Allegations of assaulting his mother and sister, over which he was never charged, aside, Bale brought all his acting talents to the title role in The Dark Knight, making it a great box office success.

Bruce Willis

bruce willis, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Bruce Willis Bruce Willis first established himself as an actor as Dr Addison Jr in sitcom Moonlighting (1985-89) with Cybil Shepherd, before becoming super-famous playing John McClane in Die Hard (1988). Since then Bruce has become known for playing loveable tough guys, in films such as Lucky Number Slevin and Pulp Fiction. Now he is the sixth highest paid actor in Hollywood and reached No 29 on the Forbes Top 100 list 2008.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Brad Pitt At No 10 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, unsurprisingly, is Brad Pitt. The actor was first noticed in a supporting role in Thelma And Louise, where he gained more attention for his looks than his acting, and was first described as a ‘sex symbol.’ By the year 2000, Pitt had made his way to the top and was officially on the A-list.  Nowadays, as well as having a multitude of films under his belt, Brad is more famous for his personal life with Angelina Jolie, with whom he just had twins.

Denzel Washington

celebrity gossip, celebrity,Denzel Washington, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Denzel Washington Best known for his role in American gangster movies, Denzel Washington has been in some crackers such as The Bone Collector, Training Day and Man On Fire, the later of which being one of the only film that men can be forgiven for weeping at. For his sterling work Denzel has won two Oscars and won another 48 awards. His work started in the 1980s, when he began to be cast as the leading man in many TV shows. Through the ’90s Washington co-starred in big budget productions such as The Pelican Brief (1993), Philadelphia (1993) and Courage Under Fire (1996). Known for being meticulous in his film work, he made his directorial debut with Antwone Fisher in 2002.

George Clooney

George Clooney,Julia roberts,Brad Pitt, celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men George Clooney The looks, the smile, the panache – only George Clooney could sell Martini by the bucket load, based on his looks alone. The famous bachelor started out on Chicago-based ER (1984), and melted the hearts of ladies across the world. Ten years later Clooney returned to ER, and was launched into the public eye. Since then George has had a wide selection of famous Hollywood women as onscreen-partners, including Michelle Pfeiffer in One Fine Day (1996) Nicole Kidman in The Peacemaker (1997). Clooney went on to play Batman in Batman And Robin (1997), however the film panned at the box office. He finally cemented himself as a Hollywood star in Ocean’s 11 (2001) which he starred in with BFF Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. Clooney is well known for his political activism, and in January 2008 was announced as a United Nations Messenger Of Peace.

Ben Stiller

celebrity gossip, celebrity,Ben Stiller, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Ben Stiller Having been born to legendary American comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, a career in comedy films seems like it may have been the easiest option for Ben Stiller. Ben made his big screen debut alongside fellow Hollywood man Christian Bale in Steven Spielberg’s Empire Of The Sun (1987). However, it wasn’t until There’s Something About Mary (1998) that Stiller went mainstream. Since then, Stiller has become known as a member of the ‘Frat Pack’, which includes Will Ferrell, Jack Black and Vince Vaughn. He’s also had box office success with films such as Meet the Parents (2000) and Dodgeball (2004).

Will Ferrell

celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, will ferrell, hollywood Hollywood men Will Ferrell Another member of the infamous ‘Frat Pack’, Will Ferrell’s quirky sense of humour made him stand out from the rest of the Hollywood crowd, and at 6ft 3in it would be hard for him not to. Perhaps, most memorably Will will be remembered for playing an over-sized Elf called Buddy (2003) or legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy in Anchorman (2004). Although Ferrell’s comic genius isn’t for everyone, we love him simply for making our sides split.

Daniel Radcliffe

celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood, daniel radcliffe Hollywood men Daniel Radcliffe From Hollywood legends to superstar in the making, Daniel Radcliffe only turned 18 last summer, but with all the Potter films under his belt, Daniel looks set to become a major Hollywood player.  Forbes put him at No 64 on their 2008 Top Celebrity100 list, as well as No 6 on their 2007 Top Earning Young Superstars list. Empire Magazine placed him at 23 on their 100 Sexiest Movie Stars list in 2007 and in 2004 it was the Sun announced that he was the third richest teenager in Britain, after Charlotte Church and Prince Harry. As if that’s not enough, Radcliffe appears, and gets his kit off, in acclaimed West End show Equus and is due to star in Journey, the story of the life of artist and photojournalist Dan Eldon, in 2009.

Zac Efron

celebrity gossip, celebrity, celebrity news, hollywood Hollywood men Zac Efron

Newbie Zac Efron first came to our attention when he was in teeny-bop film High School Musical. The film was a hit, and Efron was catapulted into the world of superstardom. With his adorable floppy brown hair and big blue eyes, it’s no wonder that Efron has melted the hearts of girls across the globe, and appeared at No 92 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 and 93 on Empire Magazine’s 100 Sexiest Movie Stars. Efron is going to take over the world according to interview magazine, who placed him at 24 on their “Future Stars of Tomorrow” special, so watch out for him.
