Everyone knows the Iggy Pop Swiftcover insurance commercials. The veteran rocker is the star of the firm’s “Get a life. Get Swiftcovered” campaign. It was only when the media got wind that Swiftcover doesn’t actually insure musicians that the company had to pull the advert. Tina Shortle, marketing director at swiftcover.com, said, “Swiftcover.com chose Iggy Pop as the face of its advertising because he loves life, not because he is a musician.” Of course the fact that he’s famous for being a musician had nothing to do with their reasons for choosing him either. “Iggy Pop and swiftcover.com have made motor insurance interesting for a change, increasing awareness of swiftcover.com and sending our sales soaring by almost a third, so we would be crazy to lose Iggy,” said Tina.

X Factor boy band JLS thought they’d made a good joke when they told the Sun they were going to start their own line of condoms. Then Durex got in touch to make it a reality. So Ashton, Marvin, Ortise and JB are going to release their own condom range reported to be being called Just Love Safe.

JLS aren’t the first celebrities to dabble in safe sex though. In celebration of World Aids day 2008 celebrities designed their own condom boxes to help raise money. The celebrities included Ethan Hawk, Dita Von Teese and Ashley Judd.

Erin launched her British Fashion Wheat sandwich, a sandwich made using bread from flour milled from 100% British wheat, which was offered to models at The Model Sanctuary during London Fashion Week. “This year I’ve worked with nutritionists at Hovis to create the British Fashion Wheat sandwich specifically for our models to help keep them looking and feeling great during their busy week,” said Erin. And we thought models steered clear of carbs.
