Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet
In March 2010, Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes announced that they would be splitting from one another by “mutual agreement” after seven years of marriage.
The couple have one son, Joe, and Kate has a daughter Mia from her marriage to British director Jamie Threapleton.
News of the couple’s split broke after Kate had won a Golden Globe in 2009 for her role in Revolutionary Road, a film about a couple whose marriage falls apart - it was directed by Sam.
Winslet recently spoke to Paris Vogue about the split and the feelings of loneliness she suffered afterwards, “Experiencing those moments of being alone… is a very, very weird flooring and exposing position to be in when you’re just not used to it… But I’ve never been lonely. And with my kids Mia and Joe that remains the case.’
Four months following the split Kate was briefly linked to British model Louis Dowler.
