In perhaps the saddest celebrity divorce news this year, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have filed for divorce after three years of marriage.
Their spokesperson released the following statement. “After careful consideration we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”
The couple have cited “irreconcilable differences’” as the reason for the split, and 26-year-old Ashlee is seeking joint custody of their child, plus spousal and child support. The actress and singer began dating Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz, 31, in May 2006, before they married in 2008 when Ashlee was three months pregnant.
