Cynthia Nixon
Actress Cynthia Nixon quietly battled breast cancer in 2006, only going public about her recovery two years later. The lump was discovered during a routine mammogram which required surgery and radiation. Cynthia, best known for playing the cynical Miranda Hobbs in Sex And The City, didn't want her condition to become public during her treatment. Speaking to the New York Daily News she said, I didnt want paparazzi at the hospital, that kind of thing. But Cynthia, whose mother also survived breast cancer, decided to tell her story when she realized it might serve as an inspiration for other women at risk. The actress now serves as an ambassador for breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
