Breast cancer blow for Christina Applegate
Actress Christina Applegate has an early form of breast cancer a statement released by her spokesperson this week confirmed. \"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer,\" the statement read. \"Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.\" Christina became a spokesperson for Lee National Denim Day - a fundraiser to benefit Women\'s Cancer Programs, a few years ago after her mother survived the disease.

Tom Cruise in scientology lawsuit
Tom Cruise was named in a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology this week. Peter Letterese, a former member, filed court papers against the church claiming £125million and using the US\'s RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisation) laws normally used for dealing with the organised crime calling the church a \"crime syndicate\". \"Scientology head David Mascavige is aided and abetted by the actions of Tom Cruise, his right-hand man for foreign and domestic promotion,\" the legal papers said. The church has been quick to denounce the claims saying, \"The lawsuit is as merit less as his other filings.\"

Mary Kate Olsen responds to Ledger enquiries
Former child star Mary-Kate Olsen\'s lawyers were forced to issue a statement after reports Olsen-questioned-over-Ledger-death/v1 this week that she refused to be questioned about Heath Ledger\'s unless she was granted immunity from prosecution. \"Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger\'s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them,\" the statement reads, referring to a New York Post story that investigators were keen to know how Heath Ledger obtained the prescription drug Oxycontin. \"Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed.\"

Sharon Stone was sued for £500million this week for recently saying that the Sichuan province earthquakes that claimed 80,000 lives was \"karma\" for China\'s human rights record, the New York Post reported. New York lawyer Ming Hai and more than 1,000 earthquake victims are demanding money, \"For the families who have lost their loved ones,\" the papers say. \"Or lost limbs or suffered severe injuries, your statement and act has caused extreme emotional distress.\"

Wanted star Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt laughed off rumours that they used IVF treatment to conceive their new children Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. \"If they had been conceived through IVF, we would have been happy to discuss it,\" Angelina told Hello! magazine \"But we have been fortunate never to have had fertility problems.\"

Victoria Beckham warned off more children
Victoria Beckham was advised against having another baby this week Now magazine reported. \"She wanted to try for a baby after the Spice Girls finished touring,\" a source said. \"But she\'s put her plans on hold while she sees what can be done to help her. She knows she is putting her health at risk if she dismisses the advice of her doctors and has another C-section.\" Sources say doctors have told her she could damage her body if she has a fourth caesarean and say she could need an emergency hysterectomy if the operation goes wrong.

Eva Longoria-Parker admitted she\'d love to design her own range of clothes this week. \"I would love to design one day. I do not have the time right now but I would love to develop a home line or a clothing line, or something like that,\" she told Showbiz Spy of her plans to follow her friend Victoria Beckham into fashion. \"We will see what comes first.
