Dido slammed for IRA lyrics

On new album track Let’s Do The Things We Normally Do the singer has used lines from The Men Behind The Wire, a tribute to provisional IRA men written by Paddy McGuigan and recently associated with extreme republican movements such as the Real IRA and Continuity IRA. In the track Dido sings ‘Armoured cars and tanks and guns, Came to take away our sons, But every man must stand behind, The men behind the wire.’ "Given her Irish roots, it is inconceivable that she doesn’t know the background of the wording,” Gregory Campbell, MP for East Londonderry angrily told the Daily Mail. “She must know it was written about people who were murderers, arsonists and terrorists. She should clarify her position so that her fans and the wider public knows where she stands on these things."

"As Britney is such a victim of the paparazzi and always complaining and crying about how she hates to be held up in her guarded house and can\'t feel free, she of all people should be able to relate to the horror that captive animals go through when they\'re used for entertainment," the statement reads. "Except Britney chooses to perform, and the lifestyle just comes with it. Animals are ripped away from their mothers at a young age, kept in chains, and prodded with electric shock devices to make them perform."
