Elle MacPherson
Supermodel Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson was criticised this week for cycling in London with her son on her handlebars. Elle was heavily criticised after being photographed cycling in London with her five-year-old son Aurelius Cy sat on her handlebars. Jo Stagg, a spokesman for the Royal Society For The Prevention Of Accidents said, “It is both illegal and dangerous to carry more than one person on a bike that\'s not designed for it,” adding, “There are issues with balance and it is easy to fall off. A child on the front handlebars could affect the cyclist\'s ability to see, steer and balance, and we would not advise parents to carry children in this way – ever."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have given £1m to the Global Health Committee to open a new clinic in Ethiopia for children suffering with AIDS and tuberculosis. "Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease," Angelina said in a statement. The family have already set up a similar centre, named after their son Maddox in Cambodia. "It is our hope when Zahara (the couple\'s adopted Ethiopian daughter) is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission," Brad added. "The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable."

Mark Ronson and Daisy Lowe
Superproducer Mark Ronson and model Daisy have broken up, sources have told the Daily Mail. "Despite his party-boy image, Mark’s quite serious and just wants to meet the right girl and settle down," a friend told the paper. "That was an issue for Daisy, who is still quite young at heart. They’re in different places at the moment and they both need some time and space to think about things. Mark’s at the top of his game. He’s very self-assured and confident and he knows what he wants. Daisy still has quite a lot of growing up to do."

Jada and Meg Ryan join Sarah Palin debate
Stars of new film The Women Meg Ryan and Jada Pinkett Smith have added their names to the list of stars criticising Sarah Palin, Republican nominee John McCain’s running mate. “I guess we have to root for her in that her son just went off to Iraq, that\'s gotta be really, really tough,” Meg told the New York Daily News but added, “But she doesn\'t represent my politics at all.” Jada also gave her thoughts on the controversial choice saying, “It\'s nice to see women in America are being extremely vocal about politics this year. But her being a woman hasn\'t made me sway to that side. Not one bit.” Last week Oscar winner Matt Damon compared the Alaska Governor to “a bad Disney movie”, while Lindsay Lohan denounced her stance on gay rights, singer Pink said the politician “hates women” and Pamela Anderson simply said, “I can’t stand her. She can suck it!”

Little Britain causes uproar in the US
Claims that Little Britain USA has been branded “offensive” and “obnoxious” by gay groups ahead of its debut on American TV are not true according to New York journalist Tim Curran. Though not due on screens for another two weeks, the Daily Star newspaper claimed the show has already sparked a wave of criticism in the US for its nudity and gay and lesbian gags. They report that Irwin Blair, a spokesman for the West Hollywood Gay And Lesbian Alliance, has branded David Walliams and Matt Lucas’ creation, “The most politically incorrect, offensive and obnoxious material ever seen in this country,” while Gina Gallo of New York Gay Pride is reported to have said, “Even straight viewers are going to be repulsed if the trailers and pre-publicity are anything to go by.” However Curran was quick to claim in his blog that, “The organisation behind the New York City gay pride parade is called Heritage Of Pride, not New York Gay Pride. And the West Hollywood Gay And Lesbian Alliance simply does not exist at all,” adding, “The spokespeople quoted in the story, Gina Gallo of New York Gay Pride and Irwin Blair of West Hollywood Gay And Lesbian Alliance, do not exist.”

Amy Winehouse
Troubled Amy Winehouse refused to go to her own 25th birthday party this week because she felt too ugly, sources have told The Sun. “Amy was standing in front of the mirror telling everyone how rough she looked,” a source told the paper. “Unfortunately her lifestyle has had a major affect on her appearance and it’s only just started to sink in. She kept saying she was ugly and was in an awful state. They couldn’t get her out. Remi [Nicole – Amy’s friend] had organised the night and made a huge effort. They had a huge row. Amy can be very selfish, there was no convincing her and she ruined the night for everyone, including herself.” Adele and Mark Ronson were believed to be among the guests who waited at London’s Jazz After Dark club. "It was Amy\'s mum Janis that I felt so sorry for,” landlord Sam Shaker said. “She was crying - she was so upset."

R Kelly
R Kelly has spoken publicly for the first time since he was cleared of child pornography charges in America. The singer told Black Entertainment Television he hoped to get his life and career back on track but felt he was a stronger person since the case. “It\'s time for me to move on. I can\'t keep answering these questions,” the singer explained of the case that began in 2002. “If you were charged with something and found innocent, then you can\'t be found guilty for being found innocent.” The case centred on a sex tape, which was said to show the singer with a 13-year-old girl. Kelly was cleared of all charges and jury members later stated that while they thought it was the R&B star on the tape they couldn’t be certain of the girl’s identity because she had not taken the witness stand. During the interview the singer was asked if he had a weakness for teenage girls. “When you say teenage, how old do you mean?” Kelly said before adding, "I have some 19-year-old friends, but I don\'t like anyone illegal if that\'s what we are talking about, underage.”

Blake rejects parole
Blake Fielder-Civil rejected a conditional early release from prison, sources have told The Sun. Officials are said to have offered Amy Winehouse’s husband the chance to leave prison early if he agreed to wear a tag, stayed at his mother’s house and obeyed a 7pm curfew, but Blake rejected the offer because he insisted on being released home to Camden. “It was all set for him to be released, but because he refused to go to anywhere other than Camden, it was refused at the last minute,” a source told the paper. “He doesn’t want to go somewhere where he can’t be reunited with Amy and his friends. He’d rather stay inside. The Prison Service feared he would break his parole if he was surrounded by the temptations of his old stomping ground. Amy is so upset because she thought he would be out for good.”
