A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Lindsay Lohan after the actress' court issued alcohol monitoring bracelet was set off at this weekend's MTV Movie awards aftershow, TMZ reports. Lohan was ordered to wear the bracelet, known as a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring device or SCRAM, last month after missing a court appearance to explain her failure to complete a course of alcohol education classes given to her as part of her sentence for a 2007 DUI and drug possession conviction. LA Judge Marsha Revel has ruled that Lohan must forfeit her previously posted $100,000 (£69,207) bail. In addition, she will now be forced to pay a heftier $200,000 (£138,410) bond or else face jail time.
Lindsay has said she believes there has been a mistake. "My scram wasn't set off. It's physically impossible considering I've nothing for it to go off," Lindsay tweeted. "All of these false reports are absolutely wrong. Also, they can check probation records for alcohol as I got tested YESTERDAY.(sic)"
However, Lindsay's lawyer has confirmed the SCRAM was triggered off but said they are awaiting a report to explain exactly what caused it. "This morning Judge Revel was advised by a SCRAM representative that Ms. Lohan's court-ordered alcohol bracelet had indicated the presence of a small amount of alcohol on Sunday night," the lawyer explained. "Having just received the report, I am not in a position to speak to its accuracy or validity, however Ms. Lohan maintains that she has been in complete compliance with all of the terms of her probation and her bail. Bail has again been posted in Ms. Lohan's case and she will continue to comply with all of Judge Revel's orders."
