John Leslie was arrested and questioned by police on suspicion of rape this week, after a woman came forward to claim she was attacked at his home in November 1995. Leslie denied the allegations, calling them "totally untrue". A police spokesman said, "At approximately 7pm this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry. He was interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries to a date in late August." In 2003 Leslie was acquitted of two counts of indecent assault on an actress.

Recent newspaper reports quoted Labour Party insiders saying they want The Apprentice star to be their next mayoral candidate. "One can never say never, but it is a long shot," he told radio host Vanessa Feltz. "It would be a massive challenge. One should never underestimate the knowledge that one needs to take on a thing like that and I\'ve always been one of those people to say stick to what you know... It is an interesting thought.
