Taylor Swift admitted she'd had an "interesting night" when discussing Kanye West's on stage comments during her MTV Video Music Video Awards acceptance speech. 19-year-old Taylor won the best female video award during last night's show for her song You Belong With Me but found her acceptance speech gate-crashed by Kanye West who took the microphone to claim the honour should have been given to Beyoncé [see the video at MTV.co.uk]. "I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I had just won an award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on the stage," Taylor told press after last night's awards. "And then I wasn't so excited anymore after that. I don't know him and I don't want to start anything. I had a great night tonight. I've been getting so many text messages and everybody's been really, really nice. I've had a really fun night. It's definitely been an interesting night. I don't know him and I've never met him... I don't want to start anything because I had a great night tonight."
However, fellow performers weren't so diplomatic. Outspoken Pink tweeted, "Kanye West is the biggest piece of s*** on earth. Quote me!" While Katy Perry wrote, "F*** u Kanye. It's like you stepped on a kitten." But it was Kelly Clarkson who perhaps put it best, in an open letter on her official site. "Dear Kanye, What happened to you as a child? Did you not get hugged enough? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like s***. I mean, I've seen you do some pretty s***ty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways," Kelly writes. "It's absolutely fascinating how much I don't like you. The best part of this evening is that you weren't even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome." Kanye has since issued an apology and confessed he should not have "taken away" from Swift's moment in the spotlight. "I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," West grovelled. "I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented."
