Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle was taken to the Priory clinic on Sunday night following an “emotional breakdown”, according to The Sun. Police were called to a London hotel at around 6pm on Sunday evening, where doctors were assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act, Scotland Yard said.Producers of the ITV talent show reportedly contacted police on Sunday to say that Boyle was acting strangely. She was taken voluntarily by ambulance at around 6pm to the Priory in Southgate, north London. An unnamed source at the hotel told The Sun, “She’d been at the hotel for a few days, but since Saturday’s final had been acting strangely, causing a bit of a stir. She didn’t look well – she looked lost, not all there.”
Britain’s Got Talent producers said Miss Boyle was “exhausted and emotionally drained” after the final and TV Company talkbackThames released a statement saying the 48-year-old had been advised by a doctor to take time off. “Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained,” it stated. “She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her out ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”
According to newspaper reports Susan ran down a corridor shouting, “I hate this show!” following her shock defeat on Saturday. The alleged outburst followed a last-minute backlash against the singer, who was favourite to win the competition.
