Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone has apologised for saying that the earthquakes that have claimed approximately 80,000 lives in China could be “karma” for the country’s poor human rights record. “Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people,” the actress said in a statement released by Christian Dior cosmetics, who have dropped the star from their adverts in China. “I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people.” Dior were also quick to distance themselves from the comments saying, “We don't agree with her hasty, unreflecting remarks and we deeply regret them.”
