Switzerland's Justice Ministry has denied Roman Polanski's application for bail. The Polish director is currently being held in a Zurich prison awaiting a bid by the US to extradite him. US authorities have sought to bring him to trial since he fled the country in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl. "We continue to be of the opinion that there is a high risk of flight," Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said, before confirming they are awaiting a formal request for extradition from America, adding, "I assume this is a priority case in the United States."
