The Umbrella star is up for the ultimate urban, most addictive track and solo artist of 2007 prizes at the show, which will be held in Germany. Her fellow contenders for the top prize of best solo artist are Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Mika and Nelly Furtado.
Neo-soul crooner Amy Winehouse is also up for honours at the ceremony after Rehab was nominated for the most addictive track, while her album Back to Black could be picked as the best of the year.
British bands the Arctic Monkeys and Muse will compete against each other in the best headliner category. But they will face stiff competition from Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and the Foo Fighters for the honour.
Timberlake leads the field with nominations in four categories, including the video star and ultimate urban fields.
The Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, Mika and Avril Lavigne are
scheduled to perform at the awards show, which will be hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg on November 1st.
Winners at the show will be decided by fans, who can vote for their favourites on MTV's website.
