Radiohead have proved they were right not to re-sign with their record label - a source close to the band has revealed that their new album, In Rainbows, has been downloaded more than 1.2million times in less than a week. The source added that the average price paid was £4, after the band told fans it was up to them how much they paid for the album. Which means they’ve already trousered £4.8million! With Madonna, the Charlatans and others soon to follow Radiohead's lead by releasing their music directly to fans, that rattling sound you can hear is record companies quaking in their boots.
