Kate and Pete ended their on-off relationship after Pete was rumoured to have cheated on her with a brunette model and because of the singer's failure to kick his heroin addiction.
The Babyshambles frontman left the Clouds House rehab clinic in Wiltshire this week after a six-week stay and is said to have successfully passed weekly drugs test while in the facility.
But despite Pete's apparent recovery, his minder Johnny 'Headlock' Jeannevol has said that he was so distraught when he first heard that Kate was dating Kills guitarist Jamie Hince that he took an entire bottle of pills in an attempt to take his own life.
Mr Jeannevol told the News Of The World: 'To begin with Kate was ringing him up all the time, concerned for his well-being. But when Pete started to quiz her about the new guy, she was evasive and it got to him. She messed with his head.
'[He was] really wound up over Kate showing off her new man. He saw an opportunity to take an overdose and took it. '
