Tarino Lightbourne, a paramedic from the Bahamas has been charged over an alleged plot to extort £18million from John Travolta according to an Associated Press report. Lightbourne pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort from the US actor, Magistrate Carolita Bethel said. Reports say that the paramedic has been charged for his part in a scheme involving pictures of the actor’s dying son Jett, who died suddenly on 2 January while holidaying with his family on the islands after suffering a seizure. Though full details of the alleged plot have not been made public, Prosecutor Bernard Turner objected to the paramedic being awarded bail. He was quoted saying the police were looking for a "certain document" and believed they may not find it if the suspect was bailed.
