Ozzy Osbourne wins libel case

Ozzy Osbourne has accepted libel damages from a newspaper over claims he suffered a health scare that jeopardised this year's Brit Awards.

Ozzy Osbourne won 'undisclosed damages' from the Daily Star at London's High Court for a libellous story which claimed the former Black Sabbath star collapsed three times before this year's Brit Awards, throwing the show into jeopardy. The story, titled Ozzy's Freak Show, claimed Ozzy, presenting the show with wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack used an electric buggy to move around and had collapsed twice before the ceremony prompting organisers into emergency talks to decide whether he should be withdrawn at the last minute. Ozzy's lawyer John Kelly said the article had caused "considerable embarrassment and distress" and said Ozzy will donate the undisclosed award to his wife's colon cancer charity.
