Oprah Winfrey has settled the defamation lawsuit brought against for alleged comments about the former headmistress of her South African girls school out of court, the Associated Press reports. Nomvuho Mzamane had claimed Winfrey defamed her in 2007, in the wake of a scandal over alleged sex abuse at the school, and the comment had led to her having trouble finding a job. The case was due to go to trial on 29 March, however, lawyers for the pair said they had met "woman to woman" and sorted out their differences. They are happy that they could resolve this dispute peacefully to their mutual satisfaction," their lawyers confirmed in a statement to press.
