Madonna and her four children have arrived in Malawi to take part in a ‘ground breaking’ ceremony – digging the first spadeful – on the site where her charity is building a girls’ school. Raising Malawi is funding the project just outside the country’s capital city, Lilongwe, and says it aims to provide accommodation, food, education and other support to orphans. "It's an honour for me to be able to help as many of these girls as I can achieve their dreams," Madonna wrote in a statement on her website. "Research proves that young girls throughout the developing world are often left without opportunities to receive a comprehensive education and the benefits that education can provide. Our goal is to teach them to challenge themselves, serve their local communities and develop their country."
