Katherine Heigl has blamed the writers of her show Greys Anatomy for her decision not to apply to be considered for this year’s Emmy Awards. Actors must themselves apply to be considered for the awards and last year Katherine won the Best Supporting Actress gong but she’s decided not to try and retain her crown. “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,” She explained to the LA Times. “In an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation, I withdrew my name from contention. In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.” Expect Dr. Isobel Stevens, her character on the hospital drama, to take a tumble down a lift shaft in the next series then.
