There is to be no reunion between actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, according to E!online. The celebrity couple broke up in mid-December 2009, with reports confirming that the split was mutual and amicable. Since then rumours have been circulating that the pair will be getting back together. But a source close to Jake has told E!online, “It’s not happening. No way.”
Sources close to the couple have said the break up was amicable and the relationship ran its course naturally. A friend told US TV network E!, “They needed time to figure it out and they were on different coasts. When they were finally together, they talked it out and decided they’re not going to be together any more.
“There are no other people involved. The relationship just ended. It just fizzled. But they also wanted to be careful and private about it because of Reese’s kids.”
In the meantime, Reese doesn’t appear to be wallowing in self pity. The actress and mother-of-two was all smiles when she was spotted lunching with a female friend in Los Angeles yesterday.
The couple had been together since co-starring in the 2007 drama thriller Rendition.
